Jar Size & Yield Converter

“This recipe makes 6 pints — how many quarts is that?” Here you go.

Recipes and pantry inventories don’t always use the same jar size. This converts between the standard sizes so you can plan how many jars you actually need, or figure out what a yield in one size means in another.

    Standard Jar Sizes

Half-pint (8 oz), Pint (16 oz), Quart (32 oz), and Half-Gallon (64 oz — used almost exclusively for apple or grape juice, not general preserves). Most vegetables, meats, and soups are processed in pints or quarts; jams and jellies are typically half-pints or pints.
