Work With Me — One-on-One Canning & Homesteading Help

I’ve been canning, fermenting, and preserving food for years.

Not as a hobby I picked up during a pandemic. As a real part of how my family eats — putting up 1,500 to 2,000 jars a year, fermenting vegetables, making herbal remedies, and figuring out the hard way what works and what doesn’t.

If you’re trying to learn home food preservation and you’re tired of conflicting information, vague advice, or guides that assume you already know what you’re doing — I can help.

What I Can Help With

  • Canning safety questions — “I did this, is it safe?” You deserve a real answer from someone who actually knows the USDA standards, not another forum opinion.
  • Getting started — overwhelmed by conflicting information online and just want someone to tell you what to actually do first and what equipment is worth buying.
  • Troubleshooting — a batch went wrong and you don’t know why. Let’s talk through what happened.
  • Planning a canning season — what to put up, how much, in what order, how to manage it when everything ripens at once.
  • Fermentation questions — sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, and the parts that don’t get covered by mainstream resources.
  • Herbal questions — safe preparation methods, what to grow, how to actually use what you’ve dried.

How It Works

Pick whichever format actually fits how you’d rather communicate — both get you real, direct answers from real experience.

By phone or Zoom audio — no camera required on either end. You bring your questions, I answer them live. After we’re done, I’ll send a short follow-up email summarizing what we covered so you have something to reference later.

By email — if you’d rather write out your question and think it through on your own time, this works just as well. Send me the details, and I’ll reply with a full written answer, including next steps if there’s follow-up involved. Good for people who don’t love being on the phone, or who want a written answer they can save and refer back to.

Pricing

30-minute call — $30 Good for a specific question or a quick troubleshooting conversation.

60-minute call — $55 Good for getting started from scratch, planning a full season, or working through several questions in one sitting.

Email consultation — $25 Send your question in as much detail as you’d like. You’ll get a thorough written response within 2-3 days, and one follow-up email included if you need to ask a clarifying question afterward.

How to Book

Email me at thehomehearthco@outlook.com with a bit about what you’d like to cover, and I’ll send over a payment link and we’ll find a time that works.

This isn’t a substitute for your county extension office or a licensed professional for anything outside general home food preservation guidance — but if you want real, practical answers from someone who’s actually done this, I’m happy to help.
